Kiel gave the minutes for January’s meetings.
Daniel gave the financial and investment report.
Curtis gave the grievance report. Some dates have been set for terminations, serviceman tool allowance, drug policy, and vacation pay. Discussed the most recent arbitration that the union had to withdraw due to a recent court ruling that upheld the Campbell River case. Had some discussion on the cellphone grievance.
Ed discussed more union apparel that he will be looking at getting for the membership such as shirts, hats, and jackets. He spoke about the mine rescue competition and would like the local to put on a BBQ to raise funds for a local charity.
Kiel discussed Ken’s findings on the RRSP’s and the benefits of staying with Adel and Great West Life.
Dan spoke about the local’s bursaries and the application that is on the local’s website. Also mentioned the twenty-eight $2000 bursaries that are available on the Nationals website. Dan will be putting a deadline on these bursaries soon.
Cody gave Cory’s OHSC report. Safety issues brought forward are the width of the mine roads in the pit and the mine bus sliding past the Kersley stop and backing up on the highway. Cody brought up the training that we will be putting on for shop/safety stewards.
New Business: Curtis discussed what was on the petition that was presented in Williams Lake and the issues on it. All in favor of donating $1000 to Brad McMillan for his undue hardship. All in favor of opening the bylaws up to changes. All oppose Lisa Harvey’s motion to donate $5000 to Roxy Holstien for her undue hardship. Issue was brought forward that the welders were asked about taking a course on scaffolding and then would be putting up their own scaffolding, we will ask management if this is something they are really going to try. Motion to donate $500 to Cal Steward for his undue hardship, carry to next meeting for vote.
